A word about subject matter. We curate the work of Italian-American writers, but the writing submitted does NOT need to have an Italian American theme. Avoid gratuitous use of Italian-American symbols, terminology, names, etc if it isn’t an organic part of the story, etc.

We are NOT interested in stories that are travelogues of family vacations or oth to Italy to discover family, ancestors or “heritage”. We are not minimizing the importance of such experiences, just that we are not interesting in publishing them.

Please submit  only your original , unpublished  and proofread work, addressed to the appropriate editor, and include a 75 word or less , third person bio in an attachment .

Send no more than 5 poems at a time.  All other works should be under 5,000 words.  If your work is polarizing, racist, homophobic, or otherwise demeaning or abusive to any group or person, your work will be immediately deleted. Please know that poems requiring special formatting are usually difficult for us to publish on this platform, but if we like a poem we can try.

We are  a  literary magazine that curates the work of Italian-American writers , but we are people, too.  Please follow submission and query etiquette.  Emails that are sent suggesting that the piece attached “might be something you can use” show a lack of respect for the work as well as for the staff who are supposed to read it and  will deleted without comment.

Show up for your own work by sending a polite and professional email, the title(s) of your work, the genre and for long pieces, a word count.  Doing so is a sign of respect to yourself , your work and the editors.

Please do not query about your submission until after 3 weeks.

We are happy to read and endorse work that adheres to these guidelines and are happy to nominate for the Pushcart and Best Small Fictions.

We ask that if you are published in OVUNQUE SIAMO that you wait at least one issue before submitting your work to us again. Please submit to only one genre at a time.

Failure to adhere to guidelines will result in your submission not being read.

Please report your submission to Duotrope!
