SHINE
I have remained here long enough
screaming at the clouds
beating my fists on the air
watering the pavement with my hot tears.
I have resisted too much
while people and life moved forward.
I can stay here no longer
nor can I go on as before.
Ready or not, I must leave this dry
dead land. Find a new tribe.
Greener pastures. Where I can
bloom and grow again
under the light of a brilliant star
or a dull one. It matters not.
I carry my light inside me.
My purpose now is to let it shine.
