THE WINDOW
I don’t know why I even try anymore.
Sometimes the window just closes
& jams shut, but you miss
your midnight escapes.
Your long-time serenades
& you just want to go outside.
Just keep walking, head bobbing
excitedly as you skip and frolic.
Ignore the throbbing in your toes,
yet the worry in your gut grows
like weeds in the cracks of
pavement. But you’re still walking.
Cammina, cammina, ragazzina.
She walks, with lo zaino on her back
pressing against poiché una pressione,
When will the light poke through the trees?
When is she coming back with gauze for my aching feet?
La notte mi riecheggia.
Nessuna parola a sé stante
fa freddo, and I’m alone with these old clothes,
glass, and the silence.
